Well, I was born and raised here so feel free to ask me questions if you would like. BTW... 1st thing... buy a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY warm winter coat and a good pair of winter boots lol
and expect a lot of snow.... April is when we get the most.
But you'll like the Chinooks (a warm wind from the Rocky Mountains). Chinook winds can to raise our winter temperature often from below −20°C (−4°F) to as high as 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) for a few hours or days, then temperatures plummet to their base levels, melting all of that wonderful snow, then freezing the leftovers to make our roads skating rinks again . People often get headaches from the drastic change in the barometric pressure too.

Hello Mrs. Sam,
Thanx very much for that response. Really appreciate it.
I would be in touch with u via email. As u can very well imagine, I have so many basic questions to ask. Please dont mind if at times u find them quite foolish ....but I will ask what comes to my mind.
Thanx once again.

Of late, Calgary has been the destination of new immigrants due to Alberta's oil sand economy. The weather is harsh yet warmed in the winter by sporadic Chinooks ( the warm Pacific wind currents flowing from BC). It is better for strugglers ( as most new immigrants are) to start from here.
Good luck , Sachiji . See you sometime there. |

Oh yes and Northern Alberta’s oil sands are increasingly becoming a source of political conflict, both domestically and globally, as scrutiny of the world’s second-largest known oil reserve intensifies. While recent production in the oil sands has driven rapid economic growth in Alberta, there is increasing concern that this growth is causing unprecedented ecological harm and environmental destruction.
Here's info on Alberta Oilsands from the Government of Alberta: http://www.oilsands.alberta.ca/index.cfm

Mrs. Sam,
How about being an agriculturalist in Canada? What other self emplyoment options do you advise in the case jobs are not easy to come by in hands. |
