Welcome to Canada.
This country has a very tough approach on new immigrants. Finding a job over the Internet before you came in is virtually impossible. Even after you come in, most Canadian employers would prefer you to flip burgers for several years to get "Canadian experience" before they will consider you for a career job. Discriminating, sad, but true. It's better that you know it in advance.

I've been hearing people say that Alberta is good for getting work and
the pay is good, but yet again that's just a collection of responses
I've read on various forums. Any Canadians here that can give me some
insider info? I'll be going over with 3 to 4 months of savings and
choosing the right country is obviously the first wise choice to make.

Alberta has laid off something like 15% of their workforce over the last 6 months due to oil trouble.
If you go to Alberta today you will have to beat hundreds of Canadian applicants for almost every job, and with local employers seriously preferring Canadians over immigrants this will be an extremely hard thing to do. Of course you can always drive a cab or become a house painter, but then is this the career you want?
